For me, this was really difficult. I work a full-time job, and I finished my projects after work or on my days off. Eleven years ago, I began my paralegal degree, but for whatever reason, I stopped going to college. I was informed that I would have to start over when I made the decision to return to college. What I was hearing was unbelievable. I then obtained the information after seeing an announcement from UA Grantham. I was overjoyed to complete the paralegal degree I had begun eleven years prior.Julia P., AA in Paralegal Studies
Grantham University gave me a sense belonging to a piece of myself that made me feel like I could accomplish something great. I took a break for a long time and decided to come back to finish my degree because I met a college professor name Dr. Andrea Hunt who teaches at UNA, who mentored me through a lot of hardships and gave me hope to believe I can accomplish anything even through hardships. After listening to her story and seeing how much she accomplished, I became inspired to stop waiting for my life to live me, and decided to live life and finish my degree. The staff at Grantham helped me get back on track and here I am, graduating with my degree.Angela T., AA in Business Administration and Management
I began my education journey in 2014 at 36 years old. I had to take a break from studies many times when life threw me in a different direction. However, I knew I never wanted to give up on this goal. I lost my husband in 2023 and this propelled me forward into finishing. I knew he wanted that degree for me. My student advisor and instructors have been by my side every step of the way and here I am! A graduate of the University of Arkansas at Grantham.Linda D., BA in Multidisciplinary Studies
I have been physically disabled since 2021, and suffer from multiple issues daily that make school extremely hard for me. And the fact that I have maintained the level of academic success that I have is a testament to my willpower and want of this achievement in my life. There were bumps along the way, but nothing worth fighting for comes easy. I worked hard to get here and had lots if support from both the school and my family, and it definitely makes the difference.Timothy L., BA in Cybersecurity
I started my journey on the recommendation of a co-worker when I was working a temporary job. She was obtaining her Masters degree through our school, so I applied in 2023 and started. During this time and 2 years of working temp jobs, I finally got a tremendous opportunity and pursuing this degree was critical to obtaining my new position. My mother had a terrible accident and passed away last August, I almost quit school because it was so devastating when I lost her. She always had my back and I felt so lost. I finally realized I was so close to finishing and I wanted to make her proud.Amie P., BBA in Business Administration - Human Resource Management Concentration
I took this college degree slow and steady as I work and had a small child. My child is older now and I have set an example that even though I went at a slower pass it is well worth it. I have set the tone. My daughter is now a freshman in high school and is already taking her ACT's and will be starting college as Junior in high school.Michelle S., BS in Accounting
I was motivated by the desire to make my parents proud. As the first in my family to get a Master's degree, this is a very proud moment.Chukwuma O., MBA in Business Administration - Information Management
I work for the State of Arkansas and have been in positions in HR, admin, and finance. I found finance to be my happy place. I also found I could not get promoted without a degree. In the journey that has been my past three years, I have found I had to drop the busy things in my life and focus on school and family, when I wasn't working. We have had challenges and times that I really wanted to take a break. Having family and friends to encourage me through this season of life has been instrumental in my success.Carole B., BS in Accounting
In 2012, after ensuring my four children completed their education, I finally pursued my own. With years of leadership experience from McDonald’s and the Army, I knew formal education would refine my skills. Balancing work, family, and studies was challenging, but I embraced it. My MBA in Information Management deepened my understanding of how technology drives business success. This journey wasn’t just for me—it set an example for my children and grandchildren. Education has no age limit, and persistence pays off. Now, with my MBA, I’m ready to lead, innovate, and inspire in the next chapter of my career.Andrew W., MBA in Business Administration - Information Management
In April of 2023 I received the news that I had melanoma cancer stage 3 that had spread to my lymph nodes. When I heard I had the C word I thought my life was over, I always wanted to go back to nursing school but never had the time. I believe something good came out of all this, it gave me the time to go back to school, even though being sick from the chemo, I never stopped. I pushed and 2 years later I am going to be the first one out of my family to graduate college. I am so excited and blessed to have been able to go through schooling to be able to achieve my dream job in nursing. I want to thank all my teachers who helped me and was understanding and my student advisor Lance for always checking on me. And a huge thank you to my fiancé Kalab.Candy T., AAS in Medical Administrative Assistant
My college journey can be summed up in a series of twists and turns that weren't quite what I ever planned for but ultimately led to this place. Having a love of learning is not the same as having to do courses for the achievement of a degree. It is what helped me to make the final push to complete my degree though. When I sat down to talk to my professional mentor about finishing my degree they told me to be "fearless in my pursuit of my own development."Faithful V., BBA in Business Administration
Pursuing higher education is a journey filled with triumphs, setbacks, and moments of self-doubt. As I near the completion of my degree in Technology Management at Grantham University, I reflect on the resilience and perseverance that brought me to this point. Balancing academics, work, and personal responsibilities has been challenging, but my unwavering commitment to success and the support of key individuals in my life have helped me push through adversity. One particular piece of advice that has stayed with me came from a mentor early in my teaching career. She told me, "Resilience is not about never falling; it’s about always getting back up." These words resonated with me during moments of doubt.Christina S., MS in Information Management Technology
These past few years have been incredibly difficult for me. I have had to overcome a lot, and through it all my grades were still relatively excellent and I am proud of my determination through all of this. The biggest help with this has been the birth of my daughter as I now have a reason to be my best and what I do today will affect her years down the line. My fiancée helped me along the way by taking a larger share of the responsibility of my daughter so I can complete this degree.Sean B., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology

Her dedication and encouragement have truly made a difference in my academic success, and I am so grateful for her unwavering support!Nasiba P., MS in Information Management Technology
I've tried to do online school before and it was all self-paced, with no deadlines, no support, no interactions, and I ultimately failed to complete my degree in that program. Christina McBroom's micro-touches of support provided a cheerleader who was genuinely invested in my success and a connection to the university despite being an online student. Christina truly made the program feel like it was more than just me doing the work and celebrating the littles wins.Faithful V., BBA in Business Administration
From day one, Tammy Anderson went above and beyond to stay in touch and make sure I felt genuinely supported. I had different advisors throughout my journey, and they were all great, but Tammy went above and beyond. That kind of attentiveness not only brightened my day every time we spoke, but it also made me feel like she truly cared about my progress and well-being. Beyond her warmth and kindness, Tammy managed to keep everything professional while still creating a comfortable, encouraging environment. She consistently offered me great advice and empowering words that boosted my confidence and helped me navigate challenging moments. She even worked diligently to make sure I had everything I needed for a class. There was an issue of missing the required equipment to start a class and she not only made sure that it was taken care of but also kept me updated. So admirable and professional.Jafet C., AS in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology
I have had three or four student advisors and each of them has been diligent in checking in throughout each term and taking care of any issues I have needed help with. I also greatly appreciate the financial team who also diligently work to ensure all forms are taken care of and funding is found.Carole B., BS in Accounting
As a student who has nearly always struggled with math classes of any kind I had anticipated this course would be a huge barrier for me to graduation, especially being a core class. However, Professor Janet Wyatt went above and beyond to help me understand the concepts and explain them in terms that I could not only understand but also retain. I ultimately completed the course with a B and I credit a huge amount of that to the professor encouraging me, asking questions that helped me reach the correct answer, and providing 1:1 virtual sessions.Faithful V., BBA in Business Administration
Dr. Eugene Lloyd was an instructor of excellence. He gave excellent feedback, always responded to his emails, and gave me personally, a vote of confidence. I almost dropped the class but Dr. Lloyd helped change my mind and I was able to get through a difficult subject with an A! His response to me made a difference.Linda D., BA in Multidisciplinary Studies
Ever since I can remember, math has always been my worst subject. I thought I wouldn't perform well in Janet Wyatt's class at the start of the term. I was surprised to find it difficult, but I managed to complete it and excelled in her class.Julia P., Paralegal Studies
I do not remember the professor's name but it was for College Algebra from 08/11/21 to 10/5/21. I have always struggled with testing in that class. This was my 2nd attempt as the first instructor told me to get over myself and the fear of testing. This new professor understood my struggles and even called me at home to help me. She assured me I would pass even if I didn't test well. I was ready to quite school and give up but she encouraged me not to and helped me. The first professor could have cared less.Michelle S., BS in Accounting
Michael Harden's teaching methods in the two courses (HRM355 and HRM370) really helped me to understand Human Resources and the core of following the laws related to employment processes. He responded with any question I asked and was prompt with grading.Amie P., BBA in Business Administration - Human Resource Management Concentration
UA Grantham has many instructors that are interactive and give quality feedback. However, the instructor who made the greatest impact on me is John Wagner. Through the Principles of Leadership course, Mr. Wagner allowed me to see that leadership is more than the power of a position. It is standing up for yourself and others, in an ethical way, while understanding the strengths and weaknesses of others. Since this course, I have made a change in my career that has been extremely positive.Carole B., BS in Accounting

Between juggling two jobs, being a full time mom and a full time student, it was a challenge some days I fell asleep trying to complete an assignment. But one quote stayed with me from high school, "Begin with the end in mind." I kept this quote in my head, because everything must end and you must know what your end goal is. So even if things get tough, you keep pushing and keeping swimming the reward will be greater.Shaneka T., Certificate - Medical Administrative Assistant

Balancing my parental responsibilities with my studies was tough, especially with little support. Student Testimonials
A little more than two years ago, I made the decision to commit to my educational journey and finally complete my bachelors degree - about ten years in the making! Motivated by the career opportunities my degree would support in an effort to provide for my young son (1.5 at the time), I sought out online programs that would apply to my career in HR and offer the flexibility required of a single mother with a full-time job. I quickly came across this degree program offered at UA Grantham and matched! Although the stress of a heavy course load, parenting a toddler, and working full-time was often overwhelming, the staff at UA Grantham provided excellent support and service to make the experience one I'll always cherish!Alyssa G., BBA in Business Administration
As a full time employee, husband and father, going back to school was not something that I had given much thought to. But I am glad to say that I did, I can proudly say that 22 years after graduating high school that I am graduating again! There were numerous late nights, tired mornings and anxiety over deadlines, but no matter how much I beat myself up for a low test score or simply fighting burnout, my wife and son were there to encourage me to continue. Without them I wouldn't have found the drive to complete this challenge!Cody E., BBA in Business Administration

Earning my degree has been a journey of determination and growth. Balancing my studies, while working as a CNA in a nursing home, was no small feat, but my passion for healthcare and commitment to personal growth kept me motivated. Late nights, tough deadlines, and moments of self-doubt were met with encouragement from my family and colleagues who reminded me of my purpose. One piece of advice that resonated deeply was, “The obstacles you face today are the foundation for your success tomorrow.” That wisdom fueled me to persevere, and today, I stand proud knowing my resilience has paved the way for a brighter future in healthcare.Vereeka T., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
Earning my degree was a huge accomplishment that pushed me to my limits. Juggling family responsibilities and academic commitments was often daunting. There were countless night when self-doubt crept in , especially during tough courses that stretched me beyond my comfort zone. Despite this, I drew strength from the unwavering support of my family and friends, who constantly encouraged me to persevere.Shannie N., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing
For me, this is the biggest accomplishment by far in my life. I was a high school drop out at 16 years of age, although I did later go and get my GED the same year. I still felt like a failure and not quite smart enough. I struggled with one dead end job to another. Feeling like a failure as a parent to my children. My husband and children pushed me to finally take some time to do something for myself, and my first thought was I want more, I want to learn, and I want to believe in myself, and here I am graduating with my Associate of Applied Science in Medical Coding and Billing. I could not be happier! Thank you, to everyone who supported me along the way and UA Grantham for this amazing opportunity.Jessica K., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
Going to college for the first time at 35 years old was scary to me but I have three teenagers that I raise alone and I wanted them to know that no matter your age, you can always achieve your goals. During the time of my courses, my dad passed away and my hometown had a mass shooting happen at our local grocery store. Life happens and unfortunately we still have to move on throughout all of the heartache. My kids pushed me to keep going even when I was tired and had too much on my plate. They are the reason that I am still here today.Chelsi S., AAS in Healthcare Administration
I have really enjoyed attending the University of Arkansas Grantham over the years and I often encouraged many individuals to attend this school. I've experienced many obstacles over the years, but it didn't stop me from gaining my degrees. I never allowed my mishaps to guide my footsteps on the road to my success. I appreciate the warm and friendly staff that has helped me reach my goals and I will continue to encourage others to attend the University of Arkansas Grantham in the future because I have really enjoyed my time here. I appreciate the instructors constantly recognizing your best efforts and letting you know when you are not giving your best. I wouldn't change anything about my experience.Willette T., MS in Performance Improvement
I have to first give a shoutout to Lance Rosenow my student advisor. He calls regularly to check up on me and makes sure to answer any questions I have had. And if he didn't have an answer, he pointed me in the direction of someone who did. The most challenging course I had would have to be physics. I am super interested in physics even though it is hard. I think that helped me persevere. I always want to know how and why things work so physics sparked my curiosity. The classes where I learned about AC/DC circuits were also a challenge but necessary for my career. The class where I physically built circuits was the class I feel I had the most fun in.Jessica G., AS in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology

I spent a good portion of my twenties intimidated by the idea of college. Grantham not only helped me overcome my fear but empowered me to do my best and I achieved success. I can’t wait to pursue my education further and I have Grantham to thank for that.Crystal B., AA in Business Administration and Management
I started pursuing my degree while I was serving in the Army. Constantly training and deploying limited me on being consistent with taking classes. While deployed I encountered some physical and mental injuries that made me not want to continue my education. After growing my family and receiving the help I needed, I got back into school and started working towards my degree. With three small toddlers, an active-duty spouse and a small business, I began to take classes with all the pressures of life and constantly relocating due to my husband's change of duty station. Somedays I felt I wanted to give up but with the support of my husband, family, close friends, instructors, and advisors I kept going. This led me to where I am now.Alicia C., AA in Business Administration and Management

I would also like to thank the instructors for their guidance and my fellow students for the great conversations.Jesse R., AS in Engineering Management Technology
I’m 40 years old and NEVER thought I’d have a college degree. Pursing a degree in Business Administration was a dream I held close to my heart. However, the path was far from easy. Balancing academics with personal responsibilities required dedication, hardworking, and an unwavering commitment to my goals. One of the biggest challenges I faced was managing my time effectively. Juggling coursework, full-time jobs, and family obligations often felt overwhelming. There were moments when I questioned whether I could keep up with the demands of my program. Despite these challenges, I remained determined. I developed a strict schedule, prioritizing tasks and setting realistic goals. Whenever I felt discouraged, I reminded myself of the reasons I started this journey and the future I envisioned.Miriam I., AA in Business Administration and Management

Do not ever let adversity get in the way of completing a goal that you have set for yourself.Larry R., MBA in Business Administration - Project Management
Throughout this journey, I found myself torn between pushing forward and wanting to pause, because so much was happening all at once. I discovered I was pregnant while balancing a full-time active-duty job, raising my oldest as a single parent, and juggling school. On top of that, I kept forgetting to apply for my TA, overwhelmed with a workload. It felt like I couldn’t catch a break. What truly kept me going were my kids. I wanted to be a positive influence in their lives, no matter how tough things got. I can't express enough how grateful I am for my support system—my mom, dad, and sister. They were always there, encouraging me and holding me accountable. Their support means the world to me, and I will be forever thankful for it.Chanelle G., MS in Healthcare Administration

At 55 I got another chance to return to college. I attempted many times over 40 years and never finished. I recently was diagnosed with several mental disorders. I knew for years that something was not normal but ignored it. I grew up in an environment that does not acknowledge mental issues. You are labeled crazy, lazy or irresponsible. By me being smart I was misunderstood. No one saw things the way I did and would try to force their ways of living upon me. That made me lash out and that made things even worst. To make a long story short. After being diagnosed with Bipolar I and II, Anxiety and Depression disorder, everything made sense to me. With the proper treatment, I have COMPLETED something major. I AM PROUD OF ME!!!!!!!Tanya C., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing

Completing my degree felt like a mountain to climb, filled with both peaks and valleys. Balancing coursework with part-time work and family responsibilities often felt overwhelming. There were nights when the weight of stress made me question my path, but in those moments, I found my resilience. I leaned on supportive videos and mentors, who reminded me of my purpose. Setting small, achievable goals helped me stay motivated, turning challenges into stepping stones. Every late night studying and every moment of doubt only fueled my determination. Ultimately, it was my unwavering belief in my potential and the support of my community that guided me to this incredible milestone.Law F., AA in Paralegal Studies

Hello, I'm Dominique Dumas. I have three kids and am 35 years old. In 2020, I made the decision to go back to school in order to advance my career. At the time, I wasn't certain of my goals. All I knew was that I had to return to school. to demonstrate to my kids that they can succeed if I can. Managing daily life, working full-time, and being a mother all require full-time commitments, so I knew I was up for the challenge. Nevertheless, I persisted; I maintained my faith and believed that God would see me through it. Four years have passed, and I have no regrets. I'm incredibly grateful that I crossed the finish line.Dominique D., BBA in Business Administration

I've came along way, years ago I never would have thought that I would be where I'm at today that's for sure. I've always been good at starting things but never finishing them, so I pushed myself and told myself that I was going to accomplish one thing in life and did. I struggling so much along the way but still managed to make it through. From moving from place to place and my son was involved in a deadly car wreck which 2 kids passed away and 2 kids lived one of the 2 that lived was mine. Student Testimonials
At some point, I was sitting on a couch at my last job. I said to myself that it was over, and sitting on a couch making less than minimum wage was where my life decided to change. I just so happened to turn on the TV, and there was an ad for Grantham. I decided that I would at least give it a shot and see what happens. Now I am waiting on my diploma to arrive, and I have no idea what I am going to start working on next. Grantham helped me get going again.Stefyn W., BS in Computer Science
Completing my degree while serving as active duty Navy and balancing family life with my wife and 2-year-old daughter was an incredible challenge. The demands of military life, combined with the responsibility of being a father, tested my limits. But it was my family's unwavering support that kept me going. Every late-night study session and every moment of doubt, they reminded me of why I was doing this. I am proud to have reached this milestone, knowing it's a step toward a new chapter for my family and me.Jonathan B., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology
Embarking on a journey to earn my master’s degree while working full-time was never going to be easy. But with unwavering determination and a relentless commitment to my goals, I overcame the challenges. I completed my program—a testament to my perseverance, resilience, and the power of self-belief. Completing my master’s degree while working full-time was hard, but it was an achievement that taught me more about resilience than any class or textbook ever could. It was a journey that tested my limits, but in doing so, it also expanded them. It reaffirmed that no matter the circumstances, if you keep moving forward with purpose, stay disciplined, and rely on the support of others when needed, success is within reach.Sarah H., MS in Business Intelligence
Finishing my degree has been a true test of my perseverance and resilience. Juggling work, family, and school was tough, especially during late nights spent studying. A big turning point for me was when my fiancé told me that I was capable of doing anything I set my mind to, I just needed to apply myself. His support and my kids’ love and support kept me going and helped me see challenges as steps to grow, instead of obstacles. Now, as I get ready to graduate, I’m so grateful for the hard times that built my strength and for my family who always pushed me to keep going.Ashley E., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
I am a 23-year-old who is married and also have 2 children. Between working full-time, trying to be a good father, and husband, I never thought I would have time to go back to school. Truly takes personal responsibility to complete any goal, and completing this degree was no different. There were challenges throughout the course, like there are in life, but what makes a difference is what we choose to do about them to overcome them. I wouldn't have been able to do it without God.Ingrid O., BS in Computer Science
Working through my Associate's and then bachelor's degree in computer science took a lot of work.
